Three keys: Riders vs Stamps

As we sit here, a little more than 24 hours before the Riders and Stamps hit the field at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, here are three things to look for Saturday night.

Expect the quarterback carousel to continue. Brandon Bridge and David Watford split the first four series against Hamilton before Bridge took over, ultimately leading the Green and White to victory.

I don’t expect any changes to the gameplan. You’ve won back-to-back games with this strategy. Why change now? No need to.

The Riders need to protect the football. Calgary is an astonishing +13 in the turnover battle and enters the game boasting one of the best defensive units we’ve seen in a long time, giving up less than 9.5 points per game. Saskatchewan has to protect the football and keep that defence on the field as much as possible.

Three-headed monster. What once looked like a mess has turned into a bright spot for the team, at least for the time being.

We all remember Marcus Thigpen’s 80-yard touchdown run (his only carry of the game btw!). But quietly Jerome Messam and Tre Mason were both equally impressive against Hamilton. Messam ran the ball 15 times for 70 yards, a 4.7-yard average, while Mason had arguably the best game out of the backfield picking up 51-yards on 7 carries, a 7.3-yard average. A healthy run game will go a long way to keeping Bo Levi and the Calgary offence in check.

We will be taping for In The Huddle prior to the game so join me at the Coors Light Party In The Park and you could be on the show this week!
